FAQ

  • What is your policy on hand/finger tattoos?

I don’t tattoo fingers, but I do tattoo hands. As for hands, it will require a more attentive aftercare and may need at least one touch up. Our hands are exposed to many elements on a daily basis, such as water and sun, so there is a higher chance of ink fading and/or falling out. Please take this into consideration and see if your current lifestyle is suited (ie, if you are planning on going on a beach vacation or if you work in food service).

  • Are certain areas priced differently than arms & legs?

Face, ears, neck, chest, ribs, stomach, back, hands, and feet are priced higher due to the amount of labor required to apply a tattoo there. I do not tattoo the sides of hands or feet. Pricing varies based on size and design.

  • How can I prepare for my appointment?

Make sure you are hydrated, nourished and not hungover. Bring snacks if you need and wear comfortable clothing! Sugar & electrolytes help with fatigue and dizziness brought on by the tattoo procedure. Keep the desired area you're wanting tattooed well moisturized & out of the sun for at least one week prior.

Overly dry skin is harder for me to tattoo and takes a lot longer. It can also lead to the ink not taking properly and can result in patchiness or fall out.

NOTE: if you are sunburnt in the area you want tattooed, or if you are currently on Accutane, I will not be able to tattoo you.

  • How do you take payment?

Deposits are taken through Zelle or Venmo. Payment day of is cash. If for some reason you do not come with cash, I will also accept Zelle or Venmo. A fee may be added to mobile payments.

  • How much do your tattoos cost?

Pricing ranges from my base of $200 to upwards of $500 and depends greatly on placement and sizing. However, most of the tattoos seen on my Instagram are on the lower end, so most appointments are between $200-$350. Feel free to reach out with screenshots of designs and placement ideas for a more accurate quote.

  • Do you do machine tattoos?

I don’t - I am, and always have been, handpoke only!

  • Do you offer color? Does it change the price?

I offer red, brown, green, blue and pink outside of the traditional black ink. Pricing varies depending on size and design.

  • I don’t want my tattoo to be really dark, can you make it lighter?

I am able to vary the tone of black and create a greywash for a lighter appearance. I always dilute my ink just a touch so it mitigates how the ink will spread as it heals and ages. If you choose a light greywash and decide later you want it darkened, a fee of $50 will be due.

  • Can I pay to use one of your designs/take it to another artist?

Yes, you can purchase a tattoo pass! Please reach out via email. By purchasing, you have permission to take one of my designs to an artist near you or for you to use it on yourself. If you need a higher quality scan of a design, past or current, please email me.

  • When are you going to travel to [insert city/country]?

While I appreciate your inquiries, I currently do not have plans to travel or guest. If this changes, I will be sure to post about it well in advance! For now, you can find me in Northeast Los Angeles. : )

  • I think I need a touch up on my tattoo (it faded or parts didn't take as anticipated), how do I go about scheduling that? How often should I get my tattoo touched up?

Please email me a well-lit photo of the healed tattoo(s) to admin@clementineeyes.com and we will figure out a date. Most touch ups take 30 minutes or less. Depending on how much of a touch up is needed, a fee of up to $75 may be required. Tattoos do not need maintenance and should only be touched up if, say, there is ink missing or it is too light compared to your skin tone. Once your tattoo is healed, and if all the ink has held, that is how it will be.

Aftercare

Day 1: Remove bandage(s) with clean hands after a couple hours. Gently wash the tattoo site with lukewarm/cool water & mild soap (antibacterial or unscented) using your hands to create a lather. Do not use a loofa or washcloth. Pat area dry with a clean paper towel or air dry. Apply a thin amount of unscented white lotion to the tattoo (Cetaphil, Lubriderm, Cerave, or even Hustle Butter will do).

Day 2-14: Follow the above cleaning instructions by continuing to keep the site clean and moisturized. By day 14, your tattoo should be fully healed!

What to avoid during healing:
  • Picking, scratching, exfoliating the tattoo site
  • Over or under moisturizing
  • Excessively hot water while bathing
  • Saunas, spas, hot yoga
  • Submerging the tattoo in water (baths, pools, hot tubs, any body of water) or keeping in the direct stream of shower
  • Direct sunlight; wait to apply SPF until the tattoo is fully healed as the ingredients in sunscreen can affect how the tattoo heals
  • Excessive sweat from exercise

It is normal to see swelling/redness on day one and it will usually subside in a couple hours. Later in the healing, white flaking skin around the tattoo and sometimes "scabbing" (flecks of the color coming off the tattoo) may occur. Do not pick or scratch as it will damage the skin barrier we are trying to heal. If it itches or is uncomfortable, apply lotion to soothe the skin.

My tattoos typically heal within 2 weeks and can take up to 4 weeks. Ink will continue to settle and spread in the skin over time as with any tattoo. While we as artists do our best with the knowledge we have to apply a tattoo, this art form is made by hand. Final results may vary as everyone's skin is different in various areas. I do my best to give a realistic idea of how the tattoos heal on my Instagram under my healed highlights.

If you need a touch up, be advised to wait the FULL 2-4 weeks before booking one. Touch ups may have a fee of up to $75.
